Academic Advising
Students gain valuable advice from multiple sources throughout their time on campus. Some of this is formal and arranged by your academic program when incoming students are paired with faculty to provide guidance as they choose their first year’s courses. The other kind of guidance students receive is less formal, although still part of the design of Penn’s residential campus. The source for this advice is customized by the students themselves based on where they spend time and what kind of advice they’re seeking. This could take place in your College House while having dinner with a faculty house dean and their family, or perhaps through academic tutoring sessions down the hall from your room. The interconnected ecosystem of advising on campus means that students can find timely advice and mentors that suit them best, whether through their academic program office, at one of the may cultural resource centers, or through one-on-one appointments.
Career Services
Career Services helps students define their career goals and learn how to achieve them. The office helps students and alumni obtain permanent and short-term career-related employment and graduate and professional school admission through counseling sessions, workshops, alumni networks, a large career resource library and on-line information. Career Services also establishes and promotes contact between employers, graduate/professional schools, and the University. Through the On-Campus recruiting (OCR) program, the office hosts employer interviews.
