Applying: Requirements and Process for Freshmen

Thank you for your interest in the University of Pennsylvania. To apply to Penn, you must complete and submit both the Common Application and the Penn Writing Supplement. 

Apply Online Using the Common Application

The Common Application can be found here. This application is for freshmen, international and transfer applicants.

The required Common Application school forms include: 

  • 2 Academic Teacher Evaluations
  • School Report
  • Early Decision (ED) Agreement (only for Early Decision applicants)

Application Fee Waiver

Application Fee Waivers can be requested through the Common Application website.

Freshman Application Checklist 

Required of ALL Applicants:
  • Common Application
  • Penn Writing Supplement
  • SAT and two SAT Subject Tests OR ACT Plus Writing
    SAT: Penn's code is 2926.
    ACT: Penn's code is 3732.
  • All official secondary school transcripts
  • Two Academic Teacher Evaluations
  • School Report and Counselor Letter
  • Midyear Report
